Project Carlito was a project about the development of a virtual reality naturalistic motor learning task. In plain english, that means a task (in this case playing pool billiards), in virtual reality, and in a way where you can learn to refine a motor movement (taking a shot). This is useful in the context of making more engaging tasks for stroke recovery patients to regain motor skills.
I contributed to this project as a summer intern, but took a very general role working on everything from the task’s development, building real life controller adaptors, data analysis tools and academic writing.
Our goal is write a feasibility study paper and publish it at the CHI 2024 conference. This is still a WIP, so this post will be updated soon!
